Swimming for children

The “Kid Swimming for Kids” program raises funds specifically for pediatric cancer investigation. Only 4% of cancer funds are used for this investigation, and Swim Across America – Long Island Sound seeks to change this situation by donating 20% of all this year’s event to the investigation of pediatric cancer in the research laboratories of the Sloan Kettering Kids Memorial and the NY Presbyterian Children’s Hospital.

As a novelty of this year, Dash The Dolphin, Swim Across America, and a stuffed animal, which will be available for a donation of $ 30 is included.

For every Dash The Dolphin stuffed purchased, one will be delivered to a pediatric patient with cancer through a one -purchase program, donate one and then be delivered to pediatric patients with cancer in the New York city area through the beneficiaries of Swim Across America.

“The swimming activities in open waters and in swim pool Across America – Long Island Sound are some of the most inspiring events that have ever attended,” said Jean Fufidio, Swim Across America event director.

“It is incredible to witness the meeting of so many families and people who pay tribute to those who have been affected by cancer, either as patients or survivors, or to honor a loved one or friend.”

«Listening to their stories, learning about those who have been affected by cancer and feeling love and support to help others is palpable. The desire to generate a change and do something for those who have gone through cancer is immense ».

Fifidio also said: «Cancer knows no borders. It affects adults, youth and children. Young adult diagnoses worldwide have increased by 79%. But this is how Swim Across America Long Island Sound is generating a positive impact.

Now on its 33rd anniversary, Swim Across America – Long Island Sound has contributed almost 30 million dollars to cancer investigation, which has resulted in immunotherapy treatments with Keytruda, Opdivo and Yervoy approved by the FDA.

In addition, the money collected locally remains locally, providing oncological care and research scholarships to The Cancer Support Team, a home -based home care program that offers free services to patients and their families.
