They recognize the best students (VALEDICTORITIES) of Suffolk County Generation 2025

The Association of Suffolk County School Superintendents celebrated its 31st. Annual lunch for the best high school students (Luncheon Valecotori) at an event recently held in Villa Lombardi, in Holbrook.

This annual tradition of the SCSSA (Suffolk County School Superintendents Association) pays tribute to the enviable achievements of the graduates of generation 2025 with higher performance in this area of Long Island, NY.

At the lunch held on May 29, Superintendents of School Districts, directors of preparatory schools, special guests, students with better grades and their respective parents attended.

After a warm welcome from Dr. Timothy T. Eagan, elected president of the SCSSA; Dr. Harold Dean, president of the SCSSA, told the “valheditories” that his success is a testimony of his tireless dedication, hard work and perseverance.

“Looking to the future, towards the roads that will forge and the lives that will leave their mark, know that we are proud of both their achievements and their potential to make a significant difference in the world,” said Dr. Dean. «We encourage them to stay faithful to their values; They are the basis of lasting leadership, ”he added.

For his part, Dr. Carl Decuez, guest speaker and executive vice president and rector of the Stony Brook University, encouraged students with the best grades to seek mentoring, but to be faithful to themselves.

«From the first day (university), seek the opportunity to forge a solid relationship with teachers and staff». He also said: “They must learn from mentors without losing their identity”, and that it is important to “forge their own place.”

Then, the students “VALEDICTORITIES” were called to the stage, accompanied by the School Superintendent and the director of their High School, to receive a certificate of recognition, a plaque and a copy of “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” (“Oh, the places you will go!”) Of Dr. Seuss.

During his closing words of the event, Dr. Eagan congratulated the “valheditories” for their outstanding achievements and gave them the following advice: “They address their university education with the same passion that brought them here today.”
