The song – a traditional bachata fusion with digital influences – was born to connect worlds, generations and platforms. And he is doing it.
With the support of the producer Derekvinci and a clear vision of where he wants to take his music, Johandy presents a fresh proposal that respects the Dominican roots of the genre while driving him towards new land. “Posta” not only sounds good; It feels current, danceable, visual. It is music designed for the present, with the soul of the past.
Based in the United States and with an active tour of the country, Johandy is consolidated as one of the most interesting emerging voices of the bachata. He does not fear the mixture, to risk, or social networks. On the contrary: understand that the evolution of gender depends on its ability to dialogue with the new generations.
In this interview, the artist tells us how “Postaa” was born, what it represents for him to be an ambassador of the bachata abroad, and how he plans to close the year with more music, more tours and many surprises.
“Postaa” has a very dynamic rhythm and is designed to viralize on platforms like Tiktok. How was that creative process of joining the bachata with digital culture?
In these times, you cannot be afraid of anything in musical terms. The number one bachata of the last years was Manuel Turizo’s bachata, an artist who had never made bachata. So why not do it, that I have Dominican roots and I know everything that has to do with this genre? Why not try, giving you different touchs but never forgetting the authentic sound of the bachata?
Today, it is a fact that Tiktok is one of the most powerful platforms. And as Postaa is a very sticky song, which forces you to dance it, it is already going viral. It is surprising to see how, organically, thousands of young people are dancing it. I say this is the perfect time to connect traditional sound with youth, so that both worlds are understood.

How did collaboration with Derekvinci arise? What did he contribute to the final sound of “post”?
He contributed a lot, because Derek is a very visionary person and I am very grateful to have worked with him.
In your issues there is a respect for traditional bachata, but also a clear intention to innovate. How do you find that balance?
What happens is that I already know what traditional bachata means. I feel it, I live her, and that is the reason I will never leave her. But I am also a young person who lives the present and knows the new sounds. So, if I am combined the old world with the new world, that is precisely what has highlighted me at the musical level. I am not afraid to mix styles. It is useless to continue in music if you do not risk a little.
What does it mean for you to represent the Dominican bachata in the United States and beyond?
It means a lot, because bachata is no longer just Dominican: now it belongs to the world. Even in countries where Spanish is not spoken, the bachata is danced and loved with a lot of passion. For me, it is an honor to carry that flag.
What motivates you to continue creating music that connects with new generations?
There is music that is eternal, which will never die. If we can rescue a little of what our families love so much and give it our own touch, then everyone – you are old – we can enjoy the same songs together.
What has been the most viral or unexpected moment you have lived in Tiktok or Instagram thanks to your music?
They have been two songs. When we did the Cover of Perfect by Ed Sheeran, it positioned itself among the 20 most viral in all of Spain. It was a total surprise. And now, with post, seeing so much youth dancing in countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras – Lugars where bachata is not the strongest genre – has been magical. They are enjoying the song and that fills us with joy.
What can your fans expect for the rest of the 2025?
2025 continues with great force. In addition to more music, in August we will have a tour along the west coast of the United States. We also have a media tour in New York before the end of the year, because New York is a city too wonderful to leave it out of all this impulse we carry.
