Thalia Spanish Theater presents the world premiere of “Tango 100%”, a vibrant show of music, song and dance that invites the public to join the milonga. Four weeks to get carried away by Argentine passion in Sunnyside.
Tango reaches a city that embraces all cultures and celebrates every corner of the world, with a scenic experience that promises to excite and vibrate music, dance and passion lovers. In the multicultural heart of Sunnyside, Queens, the Thalia Spanish Theater presents the world premiere of “100%tango”, a work that not only pays tribute to the traditional tango, but also drives it towards the future.
From June 5 to 29, 2025, the theater will become a real Buenos Aires milonga. For four unique weeks, the public can enjoy an intimate, powerful and deeply emotional staging, in which bandoneon sounds, violin, piano and double bass are intertwined with passionate voices and high -flight choreographies.
The show, produced, designed and directed by Ángel Gil Orrios, a cultural reference of the Hispanic Theater in New York, will feature the musical direction and arrangements of the acclaimed pianist Emiliano Messiez, key figure of contemporary tango in the United States.
The artistic cast includes international renowned figures such as Guillermina Quiroga and Mariano Logiudice, one of the most iconic couples of the scenic tango, and also to Analia Carreño and Luis Ramírez, known for their virtuosity and deep connection on the stage. To them are added two great voices: the singer Ache Rey, with his powerful and nostalgic style, and Sofía Tosello, one of the most versatile interpreters of the new generation of tango song.
Live music will be played by a quartet of excellence: Messiez al piano, Sergio Reyes in violin, Pedro Giraudo to the double bass (winner of the Latin Grammy), and Cordeone Loic da Silva in bandoneon, who will give life to both immortal classics and contemporary compositions with renewed arrangements.
A participatory show
But “100%tango” is not just to look. One of the particularities of the show is that the public is invited to be part of the milonga, that social and cultural ritual so rooted in Buenos Aires identity. At the end of the show, attendees can dance on stage with the artists, bringing their own tango shoes or simply letting themselves be carried away by the 2 × 4 compass.
This participatory component makes “100%tango” much more than a theatrical work: it is a community celebration, a meeting space, and an open door for New Yorkers to approach tango experientially.

Latin culture at its maximum expression
In a context where Latin artistic expressions fight to gain visibility in the New York cultural circuit, “Tango 100%” is presented as an unmissable opportunity to celebrate the wealth of the Hispanic legacy and approach one of the deepest and most emotional music of the continent.
“Tango is emotion, it is hug, it is shared history,” says Ángel Gil Orrios, who runs the Thalia Spanish Theater for more than two decades. “We want the public to feel part, to live tango not as a distant show, but as something of his.”
