New York City opens its streets so that pedestrians, cyclists and families enjoy summer without cars. This Saturday, July 26, the largest edition of Summer Streets begins, which will run for five consecutive Saturdays until August 23, with more than 35 kilometers of car -free streets in the five districts.
From 7:00 am to 3:00 pm every Saturday, New Yorkers will be able to travel kilometers of open streets, free of cars and full of free programming, public art, sports and cultural activities for the whole family.
The Commissioner of the NYC Department of Transportation, Yanis Rodríguez, reminded the neo-corners that the program returns with a historical expansion. In his own words: “Summer Streets reinvents our public space as a shared resource, turning the streets of the city into corridors of movement, culture and creativity,” Rodríguez said. “This historical expansion of Summer Streets reflects the Adams administration’s commitment to make our streets more vibrant and inclusive: spaces where community life prosper along with our way of moving through the city.”
