Live the magic of Cuba in New York: Buena Vista Social Club arrives at Whitney

Next Friday, October 17, the Whitney Museum of American Art is transformed into a Cuban stage thanks to an exclusive presentation of the members of the Broadway Buena Vista Social Club musical. The appointment is part of the free night on Friday (Free friday night) and promises to wrap the public in the rhythms and energy of the island from the moment they cross the museum’s doors.

Renesito Avich, Javier Díaz, Román Díaz, David Oquendo, Marco Paguia and Gustavo Schartz will be responsible for giving life to this unique pop-up experience. With their talent and charisma, musicians will transport visitors to the golden age of Cuban music, also celebrating the month of Hispanic inheritance. The combination of contemporary art and live music makes tonight an immersive experience that no culture lover can miss.

Buena Vista Social Club, winner of five Tony Awards and with ten nominations, Broadway revolutionized by bringing Latin folk music to the main stage in Spanish. His show has redefined the traditional musical, attracting new audiences and expanding cultural diversity in the American theater. This presentation at Whitney allows the public to live closely the passion and authenticity that characterize the musical.

The event is held thanks to the collaboration of Viva! Broadway and The Broadway League, initiatives that seek to amplify the Latin and Hispanic cultural heritage in Broadway. Free Friday programming, supported by donors such as Jen Rubio, Stewart Butterfield, Paul Arnhold and Wes Gordon, offers the opportunity to enjoy music, art and culture at no additional entry cost to the museum.

The Whitney Museum, located in 99 Gansevoort Street, in Manhattan, opens its doors on Fridays until 10:00 pm, allowing the public to combine this musical evening with the exploration of its extensive collection of modern and contemporary American art. The night promises to be a sensory feast where Broadway’s talent meets Whitney’s artistic innovation.

Do not miss the opportunity to live a different night in New York: Cuban music live, contemporary art and free admission await you on October 17. Mark your calendar and prepare to dance, enjoy and immerse yourself in a piece of Cuba in the heart of Manhattan.
