Adventure aboard intrepid aircraft carrier

The Intrepid aircraft carrier, put into service in 1943, survived five Kamikaze attacks and a torpedo during World War II. Subsequently, the aircraft carrier served in the Cold War, the Vietnam War and as NASA recovery vessel.

On the flight deck, the Intrepid launched propeller airplanes during World War II, combat planes in Vietnam and helicopters that rescued NASA astronauts. It now houses a vast collection of historical aircraft and our spatial ferry pavilion, which houses the Enterprise space ferry.
