Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell proudly joined Westbury Youth Soccer Club players and supporters during their recent Fifth Annual Scholarship and Awards Gala held at Jericho Terrace in Mineola, Long Island.
At this emotional event, attendees celebrated the achievements of the young soccer players and Westbury High School students who received the scholarships.
“Organized sports programs provide young people with positive opportunities to grow, gain confidence, develop leadership skills and learn the value of teamwork, discipline and perseverance. The lessons that our children acquire through the Westbury Youth Soccer Club will serve them for a lifetime,” said legislator Russell about the gala held on June 30.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Mateo Flores for his vision and dedication in establishing this extraordinary program at Westbury, as well as the incredible coaches, volunteers, players and families whose unwavering commitment allows it to continue to thrive.”
“Their investment in our youth is an investment in the future of our community, and we are deeply grateful for all they do to guide the next generation to success,” said Russell, a Democratic official representing Westbury.
