Born in Brazil and based in Miami, Gabby has become one of the emerging voices of Latin pop. Polyglot, with training in dance and song from an early age, and with more than 5 million followers on social networks, has shown that its artistic proposal has no borders. “I wanted to create something danceable, yes, but also that it told a story with which many women could identify,” he tells us in this exclusive interview.

«Xoxo» Mark your first EP in Spanish. How was the recording process and what challenges did you face when singing in a different language?

I was experiencing with the Latin world and helped me with pronunciation, it was a learning process. We decided to call the EP XOXO because all the issues are of love and heartbreak, it is basically so that many women identify when they go through the different stages of falling in love and heartbreak. For an empowered and confident woman.

What was the inspiration behind the title “Xoxo” and what message do you expect to convey with this project?

I just wanted to make a fun and danceable project, because the beats are high energy. I also wanted it to be a story mixture of how women feel when they listen to the album. They feel positive.

“AMG” combines reggaeton with Brazilian funk. How did you manage to balance both genres and what elements did you want to highlight in this fusion?

I love to merge the issues and I think the funk finally receives its recognition in the Latin and American world. I love mixing sounds and I think the funk has everything left and listens well.

«Brinca», your collaboration with Bray, has had a great impact. How did this collaboration arise and what do you think he brings his style to the song?

It seemed a good idea to have a reggaeton artist in the song and I thought about him because he has that kind of sound that could be listened well in a funk song. It seemed good idea to have that Latin and Brazilian mixture. I was pleased that he liked the subject and we did our magic.

You come from a very strong Brazilian heritage, but you also hug Latin music. How do you find the balance between both worlds in your sound?

Living in Miami I learned a lot about Latin culture and I have also lived in other places. Although I have also lived in France. I really like Carol G and I have many Latin friends and I wanted to experience Latin music.

Do you have plans to make more collaborations with Latin artists in the future?

Of course! I hope to collaborate with many Latin artists. I would like to collaborate with Emilia from Argentina because I like her vibes and I feel that we can connect.

What follows for Gabby B after the launch of “Xoxo”? Any tour or project on the way?

I am working on more Brazilian music Funk in the future. More Brazilian funk with English and Portuguese comes. I love mixing sounds and cultures because music is the language of the world.
