Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine joined members of the Long Island Ducks organization to honor the baseball team’s historic season and recognize the Ducks as the 2026 Atlantic League champions.
Romaine officially declared October 6, 2026 as “Long Island Ducks Day” on the field at Fairfield Properties Ballpark, where the Ducks captured this year’s title.
“The Ducks had an incredible season and are champions both on and off the field,” Romaine said.
“Not only did the Ducks have a historic run in 2026, but they have been a pillar of our local community for the past 26 years, drawing nearly 10 million fans of all ages to the stadium.”
In addition to declaring Long Island Ducks Day, Romaine recognized Ducks starting pitcher Nick Margevicius as the 2026 Atlantic League Championship Series MVP, and “QuackerJack” for being named the 2026 Atlantic League Mascot of the Year.
Notably, the Ducks finished with the best record in the Atlantic League during the regular season, with a mark of 80-46 and a winning percentage of .635, setting a franchise record for winning percentage.
The Long Island Ducks swept both postseason series, completing a perfect 6-0 playoff run for the first time in this baseball team’s history.
