Your vote counts! Concacaf is looking for the best male and female player of the Year 2024/25.
The North American, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation announced the nominees for these awards granted by the highest football body in our region.
The coaches and captains of the different national teams that make up Concacaf, as well as the media and fans can vote to determine the winners through the link www.concacaf.com/es/awards.
The nominated footballers for the 2024/25 season in the two individual categories: “Player of the Year” and “Female Player of the Year”, were selected based on performance statistics and contributions from football experts.
To be eligible all players must meet at least one of the following criteria:
– Have played for the senior men’s or women’s national team of a Concacaf Member Association (in eligible Concacaf and FIFA competitions and matches).
– Have played (in the corresponding season) for a club in a first division men’s or women’s professional league sanctioned by Concacaf and FIFA.
The nominees for the Concacaf “Player of the Year” awards are:
– Edson Álvarez (MEX) | Fenerbahçe (Türkiye):
“Machín” Álvarez shone with the Mexican National Team during a successful season in which the “Tricolor” won both the Nations League and the 2025 Gold Cup, and also stood out with West Ham United of the English Premier League during 2024/25. The midfielder scored the decisive goal in the “Gold Cup” final against the United States and received the Best Player of the tournament award. At club level, Álvarez was a key player for West Ham, making 28 league appearances.
– Jonathan David (CAN) | Juventus (Italy):
“The Iceman” David excelled both at club level with Lille in France and internationally with Canada during 2024/25. The forward made history by becoming Canada’s all-time leading scorer with 36 goals in 67 games, including the decisive goal in his team’s 2-1 victory over the USA in the Nations League third-place game. At club level, he scored 7 goals in the UEFA Champions League, the most by a Concacaf player in a single edition of the tournament this century. In addition, he registered 16 goals in Ligue 1, the fourth highest number in the French competition.
– Raul Jiménez (MEX) | Fulham (England):
“El Lobo de Tepeji” Jiménez became the third all-time top scorer for the Mexican National Team, adding 8 goals during the season. He scored 3 goals in the Gold Cup en route to the title and scored all 4 of his team’s goals in the Nations League semi-final and final victories against Canada and Panama, respectively. The striker won the Nations League Best Player award for his performance. His season at Fulham in the Premier League in England was also outstanding, leading his team with 12 goals and breaking the record for the highest number of goals scored by a Mexican player in the Premier League with 59.
– Ángel Sepúlveda (MEX) | Cruz Azul (Mexico):
“El Cuate” Sepúlveda was a member of the Mexican team that won the Gold Cup and won the Champions Cup title. With Cruz Azul, he won the tournament and received the Best Player Award and the Golden Boot, after scoring 9 goals in 8 games, scoring in each of the five rounds of the tournament. Sepúlveda was the top scorer for the Cruz Azul “Cement Machine.”
– Malik Tillman (USA) | Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Germany):
“Tequila Tillman” starred in a season of consecration, standing out with the United States National Team in the Gold Cup, where he was included in the Ideal XI and helped his team achieve runner-up status. At club level, he had an outstanding 2024/25 campaign with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The midfielder scored 3 goals in the Gold Cup, the second most in the tournament, and was a key player in PSV’s conquest of the Eredivisie title. His performance earned him a place in the “Eredivisie Team of the Season”, finishing as his team’s top scorer and seventh in the league’s scoring table with 12 goals.
– Manfred Ugalde (CRC) | Spartak Moscow (Russia):
“Little Agüero” Ugalde led the Costa Rican National Team with 7 goals in 13 games. His scoring ability was transferred to the Russian Premier League, where he became the top scorer with 17 goals, the highest number recorded by a Concacaf player in the history of the competition.
The nominees for the Concacaf “Player of the Year” award are:
– Charlyn Corral (MEX) | Pachuca (Mexico):
Corral’s season was marked by individual and collective achievements. The forward was the top scorer in the Apertura 2024 and Clausura 2025 tournaments of the Liga MX Femenil, and won the Golden Ball of the Liga MX Femenil. With Pachuca, she won the Clausura 2025 title and qualified for the second edition of the W Concacaf Champions Cup, scoring a decisive double in the final against Club América Femenil.
– Melchie Dumornay (HAI) | OL Lyonnes (France):
The 2023/24 Concacaf Player of the Year stood out again with Haiti and OL Lyonnes. The talented midfielder was named Young Player of the 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League season and included in the competition’s Best XI after scoring 6 goals. She also helped her club win the league title and finished as the championship’s second top scorer with 15 goals.
– Emily Fox (USA) | Arsenal WFC (England):
Fox was a fundamental piece for the United States National Team and Arsenal WFC during the 2024/25 season. The defender started all six of her team’s games at the 2024 Olympic Games, contributing to the team’s Gold Medal victory as the team only conceded 2 goals throughout the tournament. With Arsenal, she was included in the “Ideal Eleven” of the 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League, a tournament that her team won. His brilliant year earned him a nomination for the “Ballon d’Or 2025”.
– Lindsey Heaps (USA) | OL Lyonnes (France):
Heaps added a Gold Medal at the 2024 Olympic Games and a Ligue 1 title with OL Lyonnes. She was a starter and captain of the United States National Team in all 6 games of the Olympic tournament. The midfielder received the “The Best of FIFA 2024” award and was nominated for the “UNFP Ideal XI of the Year 2025”. He led the French league with 8 assists.
– Jacqueline Ovalle (MEX) | Orlando Pride (USA):
Ovalle had an outstanding 2024/25 season with Tigres UANL in the Liga MX Femenil and in the first edition of the W Concacaf Champions Cup, where she helped her team achieve continental runners-up. The midfielder recorded an outstanding 28 goals in the Liga MX Femenil.
– Khadija Shaw (JAM) | Manchester City WFC (England):
Shaw made history with Jamaica and Manchester City WFC by becoming the first Concacaf player to win the PFA “Player of the Year” award in 2024. In addition, she was named “Player of the Year” in the WSL and by the FWA, and nominated for the 2024 FIFA “The Best” award. The forward finished the season as the WSL’s top scorer with 12 goals.
