Cinema is one of the most powerful ways of telling stories, and emerging Latin filmmakers have a unique opportunity to share their vision with the world. On its fifth anniversary, you have! Cine Youth Fest, the online film festival presented by Hitn, opened its call on April 1, 2025 to continue highlighting the diversity of Latin experience through cinema and narrative.
Since its creation, the festival has been a vital platform for young Latin creatives to express and connect with the industry. “This festival not only exhibits its talent, but also encourages the awareness and understanding of the diversity of Latin experience,” says Cynthia Rivera, co -director of you accounts! Youth Fest cinema.
The filmmakers can send their short films until August 3, 2025 through Cine-youthfest.org, with preferential rates for those who are registered before June 1, 2025. This year, the festival will recognize work in various categories, including better general short film, best animated/experimental short film, best documentary short film and the Spotlight Prize that do not fit into the main categories.
The winners will be announced during the festival, which will take place from October 9 to 16, 2025 in the framework of the month of the Hispanic inheritance. In addition to recognition, they will receive cash awards, including $ 3,000 for the best general short film. As a complement, the festival organizes the “Cafecito” talks, where industry experts share tips on film, social networks and stories narration.
The report “Latinos in the media 2024” highlights the importance of initiatives such as this, since, although Latinos represent 24% of ticket sales in cinemas, only 2% of the main roles in Hollywood are for Latin actors. Therefore, this festival seeks to give visibility to new voices and open spaces for diversity in the industry.
