Workers’ Latin women in the United States contributed 1.3 billion dollars to the gross domestic product of the country (GDP) in 2021, compared to 661,000 million in 2010, which represents a growth of more than 50 % in a decade.
The economic production of Latinas is superior to the economy of the state of Florida, according to the study “giving life to the economy” of the Bank of America recently released.
“This research work shows the positive growth and contributions that multiple generations have been making to the US economy and confirms that they are a driving force,” Jennifer Auerbach-Rodríguez, executive of strategic growth markets and client development of Merrill Wealth Management said in a statement.
Between 2010 and 2021, the real GDP of Latinas in the US increased a total of 51.1 % compared to only 18.8 % of non -Latinas. “In other words, the GDP of Latinas is growing 2.7 times faster than that of non -Hispanic,” says the study.
In that period, the number of Hispanic women in the United States workforce – immigrants and granddaughters – grew by 32.9 % compared to only 2.7 % of non -Hispanic ones.
Although they are only 9.3 % of the population of the country, Latinas are responsible for 30.2 % of the growth of the workforce since 2010.
The study even indicates that the GDP of Hispanic men, which in turn was higher than that of non -Hispanic, grew at an average annual rate of 3.3 %, which means that that of women increased 1.2 times the rate of men’s rate.
The study includes data on the education of Latinas, to point out that during the decade that its higher education was evaluated, it increased 103 % while the number of non -Hispanic women with a high educational level increased only 38.3 %.
Of his health indicates that the COVID – Virus that caused a health crisis in the country in 2020 – had a “dramatic” impact by reducing the life expectancy of Latinas in 3.3 years, which was 84.4 years before the pandemic.
However, he emphasizes that “surprisingly”, in 2022, the life expectancy of Latinas recovered with increased life expectancy to 82.8 years.
By 2022, the life expectancy of non -Hispanic White Women had only recovered 33 % of what it lost during the Covid.
Latinas are making strong and consistent contributions to the population and labor of the country, according to the study.
He affirms that since the first days of the incipient American economy, Latin entrepreneurs have been visible in almost all sectors as owners of hotels and restaurants, mines, investors in the mineral trade and owners of grocery stores, baked products or clothing.
