With Boricua Alma: Alejosë sings to his heart with his first studio album “Nothing will be the same”

While New York dresses in red, white and blue to proudly celebrate the Puerto Rican national parade, from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, the singer -songwriter Alejosë shares with the world a new reason to celebrate: the launch of “Nothing will be the same”, his first studio album.

Connected from the Caribbean island, Alejosë speaks to us with emotion of this dream of this dream, of the force that music has to heal, accompany and represent who we are. His simple “Coloring the sky”, impregnated with eighties nostalgia, opens the doors of a deeply personal album that also includes “Living for you”, an emotional song dedicated to her daughter.

Alejosë began his musical path since the age of 11, when his father taught him to play guitar. At 17 he was already part of local bands, and since then he has forged a solid trajectory that has led him to present himself in important Puerto Rico scenarios. In 2016 he launched his solo career, standing out for his authenticity and connection with the public. Beyond music, he has also been a spokesman for the Make-A-Wish Puerto Rico Foundation, lending his voice and his image to support children who face critical health conditions, reaffirming their commitment to causes of great heart.

Alejosë, Congratulations on your first studio album! How do you finally feel this dream after so many years in music?

It is a wonderful dream. A dream that one has since childhood, and is now a goal achieved. It is a matter of continuing to work for what one loves and continuing to make music that people like and with which they feel identified.

The album is called “nothing will be the same.” Why did you choose that title and what does it represent for you on a personal and artistic level?

Because this album marks a before and after. I say that, after this album, nothing will be the same in my life, and I have it proven with all the blessings and beautiful things that have passed.

The theme that you throw as a letter of presentation, “Coloring the sky”, has a very eighties and nostalgic sound. What inspired you to bring that retro style to this song?

It is basically the music I listened as a child. There was a station in Puerto Rico that played music from the eighties with bands like Van Halen, Aerosmith and Guns N ‘Roses, and I listened to her when my dad took me to the school. They are part of the musical influence that I carry with me.

You talk about a relationship that is coming to an end, but still wants to do the best … Is it a personal or something more universal?

It is more universal, but in each of the songs there is always a personal touch, even in a small percentage. There must always be something that identifies with one as a person. They are everyday things that happen and with which people can identify.

You told us that “Living for you” is a very special song dedicated to your daughter. How was that creative process so intimate? Did you change your way of seeing music since you are dad?

Completely! Everyone told me that, when one becomes a father, it begins to see things completely different, and it is true. One sees the most fragile life, because everything that happens around you no longer does it thinking about you, but that little person who is with you in your home, and you try to protect that. You become more protective and sensitive when you have children.

The process to write the song was very long. I started writing when my wife was pregnant, but like I blocked and left the song aside. It was up to three months later, when I had to leave the girl, that I felt the void, and that was when I inspired and the song came complete.

Which other album song do you feel that defines you or has a story behind you want to share?

Yes. One of my favorites is “Crystal world”, which is a song of self -love. When a couple leaves you, one has to look beyond … you have to continue, life continues. It was a song that I wrote for a previous relationship that I had, and that yes, I can say that this story was 100% mine.

You have been spokesman for Make-A-Wish Puerto Rico. What does it mean for you to use your music and your image for causes with so much heart?

As artists, we must all have that human side and share the talent that God has given us with children who need it so much. I like being there supporting.
