Mexico has received 19,663 deported from Trump’s return to the US presidency

The Government of Mexico has received 19,663 people deported since the new United States government began on January 20, headed by Republican Donald Trump, including 4,052 foreigners, said Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum.

«Today (March 3), since January 20, 2025, 19,663 people have returned, 15,611 are Mexican and 4,052 are foreigners. Yesterday there were 313 people (repatriated), nothing more, ”he said during his morning press conference.

Last week, the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), the private sector dome in Mexico, reported that in almost a month the private initiative opened 50,000 labor vacancies for repatriated Mexicans from the United States.

This as part of a collaboration initiative with the Mexican government called ‘Mexico embraces you’, a strategy with which it intends to reintegrate Mexicans deported by the administration of Donald Trump through job offers, social programs, transfer support by the country and the ‘Welfare country card’ with 2,000 pesos (about $ 98).

In the country the massive deportations promised by Trump disturb because Mexicans are about half of the 11 million undocumented people in the United States and their remittances represent almost 4 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Mexico, which in 2024 received a record of almost 65,000 million dollars.

Before the United States pressure, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has defended that the encounters of irregular migrants on the US border “are at their lowest level in recent history”, with 367 recorded on February 17.

In addition, Mexico displayed 10,000 elements of its national guard on the border with the US to combat drug and migrants trafficking, after an agreement with Trump to pause the tariffs, which concludes this Tuesday, while on the southern border there are operations to ensure people without documents.
