Ian Córdova broke into New York forcefully, marking his debut in the city with a promotional visit that left his mark.
The phenomenon of the Mexican regional urban arrived in the capital of the world to present “What am I going to do with you”, an intense reggaeton that sings to loves that do not go completely. With its direct style, its overwhelming energy and a fans base in full growth, Ian demonstrated why it is one of the names that are redefining the sound of the regional in this new generation.

With more than 6 million monthly listeners in Spotify, Ian has transformed each launch into an accurate blow. His “pretty woman” success exploded in networks and exceeded 62 million views on YouTube, positioning himself as one of the most viral themes of the genre and reaching #2 in musical tendencies in Mexico. His proposal – an explosive mixture of reggaeton with regional roots – has connected deeply with thousands of listeners who find in their letters an honest and filter voice.
During his passage through New York, Ian spoke with the interview about his new release, his connection with the public and what comes for his career. This was what he told us.

This is your first time in New York. How do you feel to be in this iconic city presenting your music?
Very happy to be able to promote our songs.

Your new theme “What am I going to do with you” speaks of a love that never finishes going. Are you inspired by a personal story?
They are experiences, stories and things that have happened to one. On this subject, it is when a woman tells you that you do not grab the roll, that she had you in another concept, and one is in life, chasing her dreams, on the street … Sometimes your partner does not understand you. That is what this song is about.
This issue moves away from the traditional regional and is closer to sentimental reggaeton. How do you define the sound of this new stage?
It is a mixture between what I was doing before – the regional and the urban – and this new stage arises more than anything for “beautiful woman”, because of the impact it had. We wanted to continue this issue. People approved it and we are very happy that they liked this new style.

You have had impressive growth with more than 6 million listeners in Spotify and millions of views on YouTube. How do you handle this rapid exposure?
I think life was preparing for this moment. I have been in this for five years and I think that God’s times are perfect. If I had hit a song from the first one I launched, I think I would have wanted to eat the world. Now I am more mature, I am 25 years old, I have lived many things, and I have a colder mind. I am concentrated in what is coming.
“Linda woman” was a watershed in your career. What did you learn from that success that you applied in “What am I going to do with you”?
I learned that, without wanting to want, I already had the formula: to be myself and compose how I compose, without trying to copy anyone. The people who follow me from the beginning know that we have always handled a line of very original runs and songs. Try to use the same formula in “What am I going to do with you.” It is an original issue that I composed, and I feel that people already understood that vibes.

Your songs talk a lot about intense emotions and complicated relationships. What tell you your fans about how they identify with your music?
I spend reading it, and I see that people identify a lot. The song of “Linda Woman” caused quite controversial when I said that I would like to cook me how my mother was cooked, and that the tortilla (laughs) was going to be burned. Many saw it as machismo, but I see it more as humor. The song is a reflection of the person I am. I like being funny, I try not to take things so seriously. This is me in a relationship, and I think people connected with that. In the end, this issue is a compliment.
After New York, your agenda takes you to Los Angeles. What’s still for you this year? Will there be more new music, collaborations or a tour?
Wait a lot of new music. We have enough topics already ready to leave, we are only analyzing which is the best time for each one. With the support of the people, I feel that any song that we launch right now will like.
More official videos, more songs, media tours, more shows in Mexico are also coming … We are ready for what comes.

What dreams have to fulfill in music and where would you like to carry your artistic proposal?
I am already living my dream, which was to be an artist and live on my music. Now I have short -term goals. I would like to fill stadiums. I have already done concerts with enough people and I feel that I am ready to continue with the tour in Mexico and try to fill a stadium soon. Then, travel the United States and Latin America … where people ask me.
