The eighth International Peruvian Parade was held on Sunday, July 12 along 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights.
The event, which ran from 69th Street to 87th Street, brought together thousands of people to celebrate the pride, culture and traditions of Peru. Among the participants were members of various community organizations, the New York Police Department (NYPD) Band, representatives of Elmhurst, Worldwide and other groups.

The parade was also attended by several elected officials, including state Assemblywomen Catalina Cruz and Jessica González-Rojas, as well as Queens Borough President Donovan Richards.
“The Peruvian community has grown steadily in Queens and New York,” Cruz said. “It is a wonderful day to celebrate their anniversary, share this parade and highlight their love for culture.”
“I am proud to represent such a large and vibrant Peruvian community in Queens, not only as an assembly member, but also as a future senator from this community,” said González-Rojas. “I thank all the organizations and leaders present. I hope to continue working alongside the Peruvian community to strengthen their culture. The food is incredible and this is one of the best communities.”

The parade also paid tribute to the Peruvian equestrian tradition with the participation of an outstanding exhibition of purebred horses from Rancho Sagastume.
For the occasion, purebred Friesian and Spanish horses were presented, imported from the Netherlands and Spain. The riders Carlos Sagastume and Ismael Cuadros offered a demonstration on the historical art of horsemanship.
Additionally, an exhibition was held to highlight the discipline, dedication and excellence of the Hispanic and Latino equestrian communities.
