They announce the 1st. Long Island Oyster Festival on Smith Point County Park

The Suffolk County Executive, Ed Romaine, met with local officials and members of the Long Island Oyster Producers Association (Lioga) to announce the first “Long Island Oyster Festival”, which will be held on Saturday, August 16, at the Smith Point County Park, from 1 to 6 pm.

«The oyster industry plays a fundamental role in Suffolk County economy. We are even more committed to promoting industry growth through public awareness and community participation initiatives, including the launch of this festival, ”said Romaine.

“We encourage all our residents to come to Smith Point that day to enjoy the festivities and wonderful facilities offered by Suffolk County parks.”

The first “Long Island Oyster Jamboree” will exclusively feature Long Island stressors to promote the local ostrícla industry, whose estimated impact is 16.5 million dollars in Suffolk’s economy.

In 2024, approximately 10 million oysters were harvested in the county waters.

Long Island’s oyster jamboree will be free for all attendees, including Smith Point County Park parking for all local residents. The festivities will include live music, contests and activities for all ages.

In case of bad weather, the date of celebration will be on Sunday, August 17.
