The Vaxmobile offers vaccines against shingles and pneumonia, as well as flu and covid vaccines

The Mount Sinai South Nassau Vaxmobile continues to expand its mission of bringing essential preventive health services and vaccines directly to residents of the communities served by the hospital on Long Island; now offers shingles and pneumonia vaccines, in addition to flu and COVID vaccines.

Vaccines are offered at no cost to those who qualify. For more information, contact your insurance company.

Vaxmobile’s next visits are to:

– Oceanside Senior Center, at 2900 Rockaway Ave., Oceanside,

on Monday, April 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

– The Barn, at 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage,

on Tuesday, April 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

– The Sands at Lido Beach, at 710 Lido Blvd., Lido Beach,

on Tuesday, April 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

– Baldwin Library, at 2385 Grand Ave.,

on Thursday, April 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Accompanied by Dr. Aaron E. Glatt, chair of the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai South Nassau, the Vaxmobile visited the Freeport Memorial Library — located at 158 ​​Merrick Rd. — on April 16, to administer shingles, pneumonia, flu and COVID vaccines to all eligible residents.

Unit with bilingual attention

The Vaxmobile has been operational since March 2021, visiting community centers, senior centers, churches, high schools and other locations in communities such as Elmont, Uniondale, Hempstead, Freeport and Long Beach to bring shingles, pneumonia, flu and COVID vaccines, as well as a variety of vital health screenings, directly to residents.

This mobile, handicap-accessible unit is staffed by a bilingual clinical team from Mount Sinai South Nassau, including a nurse practitioner, licensed practical nurses or registered nurses, registration staff, and community health education professionals.

The primary mission of the mobile vaccination unit is to provide vital preventive health services, such as vaccines, directly to the communities served by the hospital.
