The Iconic Empire State Building in New York was illuminated red in honor of Silvestre Dangond

Silvestrismo was present in a historic celebration during Hispanic Heritage Month!

The iconic Empire State Building illuminated its world-famous tower with a vibrant red color in honor of Silvestrismo, a cultural and musical movement that has transcended borders, bringing vallenato to international stages with the help of its greatest representative, the Colombian singer and three-time Latin GRAMMY® winner, Silvestre Dangond. The lighting also falls within the commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrating the pride, identity and legacy of the Latino community around the world.

The special lighting ceremony, held on Monday, October 6, included the first fan meeting in the history of the Empire State Building, starring Dangond, who continues to be a key figure in the evolution and international expansion of the vallenato genre. Currently, Silvestre Dangond is nominated for the Latin GRAMMY® 2025 in the “Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album” category for his most recent album, “El Último Baile”, a title that also carries his successful concert tour of his native Colombia.

After the ceremony, Dangond toured the building’s famous Observatory Experience, recently named the #1 Attraction in the World in Tripadvisor’s 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best, and #1 Attraction in the US for the third year in a row. He posed for photos from the observatories on the 86th and 102nd floors, with a panoramic view of the city that today reflects the color of his movement: red.

“I feel honored and happy to see the Silvestrista red reflected in a city as important as New York,” said Silvestre Dangond. «What this city means to the world and to its people is immense. “I am proud to carry my flag around the world and deeply grateful for this recognition — not only to the vallenato genre, but to my country, Colombia, and to all Latinos around the world.”

Each year, the Empire State Building welcomes thousands of Hispanic visitors from around the world to their observatory experience. Today’s celebration not only highlights the cultural contributions of the Hispanic community, but also pays tribute to the vibrant and passionate spirit of Latin music through the voice of one of its most beloved ambassadors.
