The Copiague School District has appointed Omar García as assistant principal of Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School, a position he takes on July 1.
Garcia comes to Copiague from Hicksville Public Schools, where he served as a Spanish teacher at the middle and high school levels since 2018.
During the past school year, Garcia also served as director of the summer program in Hicksville.
“I look forward to serving this school community,” Garcia said. “I believe that strong relationships, open communication and collaboration are the foundation of student success, and I am excited to work with our students, families and staff to create an inclusive environment where every student can thrive.”
It should be noted that Omar García has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature, as well as a master’s degree in Spanish Teaching, both obtained at Stony Brook University.
Additionally, she holds certifications as a school leader and school district leader from The College of Saint Rose.
