Ola offers free summer camp for young people from 12 to 14 years in Long Island

OLA (Latin American Organization) of the East of Long Island announces the continuation of its summer camp program Youth Connect. This free camp offers local young people from 12 to 14 years old to participate in artistic and outdoor activities for two weeks.

The first week corresponds to the “Arts Week”, from July 7 to 11, 2025, and the second week corresponds to the “Water Week”, from July 21 to 25, 2025. Both opportunities will be available in East Hampton, New York.

The quota is very limited and is assigned by order of arrival. There is transport available. Call 631-899-3441 for more information and register.

Ola’s Youth Connect program is proud to collaborate with local artists and organizations in its third year of summer to offer a tactile, educational and fun growth experience to camp participants.

Among the community artists and collaborating organizations are: Esley Escobar, LTV Studios, Peconic Land Trust, Paddle Diva, Peconic Baykeeper and Accabonac Protection Committee.

Definitive Survival Guide

The OLA Youth Connect program, in collaboration with the East Hampton Library, also proudly announces the self -publishing of the final survival guide for the intermediate school, volume 1: a creative resource, empowerment and directed by classmates, created by and for high school students (The Ultimate Middle School Survival Guide).

The book was officially launched on May 25, 2025, after a series of three -part workshops that brought together students from the East Hampton Middle School and Springs School. During the workshops held in the library, the students exchanged real ideas and experiences, as well as advice to survive the ups and downs of life in high school.

The result is a unique and close guide, full of colleagues advice on friendship, learning, emotions, identity, social dynamics and more, all written in a fun and accessible format, comic style.

«This guide celebrates the voices of the students. The objective of Youth Connect is to provide adolescents with tools to support each other and know that they are not alone, especially at a stage of life that can be very confusing, ”says Adriana Cardona, counselor of the Ola Yououth Connect program.

«High school can be difficult, but it is also a stage full of growth, creativity and discovery. We want young people to know that they have the support of a community along the whole way ».

The bilingual book (Spanish and English) is now available in printed format in the East Hampton library, located in 159 Main St, East Hampton, New York.

Ola’s youth connection is open to collaborate with other libraries, schools and youth organizations of the EAST ED of Long Island to share this project with younger high school.
