Detectives of Alto Manhattan look for a thief who hit a man on a metro train on Sunday morning after threatening to call ICE.
According to police sources, the violent incident occurred around 3:39 am on August 31 aboard a 1 in the north -direction when he arrived at the 86th Street station, in the Upper West Side.
Police reported that the suspect approached a 23 -year -old Hispanic passenger and began a verbal dispute. Sources close to the case indicated that the aggressor threatened the victim saying: “You do not belong to this country” and then added: “I will call ICE.”
The confrontation climbed when the attacker hit the passenger about six times in the head. During the aggression, he snatched the travel bag, threw it and finally stole his iPhone before fleeing.
Although the young man managed to recover his bag, he could not recover his cell phone, authorities reported. The victim rejected medical attention.
For now, the police have not disseminated the suspect’s description. No arrests have been made and research continues.
