Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, along with Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, announced the arrest and transfer to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody of a career thief and undocumented immigrant. The announcement was made on November 18 at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, located in Mineola.
Identified as “David Beckham Adam” on a New York state-issued driver’s license, the thief and an accomplice were caught on video stealing a gold bracelet worth more than $11,000 from a jewelry store in Oceanside in late October.
“Thanks to information provided by international and local partners, the Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) located and arrested Adam earlier this month,” the Nassau government says in a statement.
They claim that under current New York State law, Adam would have been released on bail due to the non-violent nature of his crimes.
“Similar state laws also allowed him to obtain a state driver’s license without background checks or fingerprinting. But thanks to Nassau County’s comprehensive agreement with ICE, he was transferred to federal authorities and expelled from our community,” they indicate.
«(Mr. Adam) is an example of everything that is wrong with our state policies regarding undocumented immigrants. This is precisely what we have been talking about from the beginning,” declared County Executive Blakeman, a Republican. “If it weren’t for our agreement with ICE, I would be back in our community right now, or I would be fleeing to another jurisdiction to continue committing crimes,” he emphasizes.
Police Commissioner Ryder claimed that Adam is part of a transnational organized crime group based in Romania. He has several outstanding international arrest warrants and the FBI considered him a threat to national security.
Ryder noted that current state policies that allow people like Adam to obtain driver’s licenses without more extensive verifications are dangerous. “The main way terrorists commit terrorist acts against crowds, as we saw in New Orleans, is with a vehicle,” he said.
In turn, Executive Blakeman urged Governor Kathy Hochul and state leaders to make the necessary changes to protect New York residents and prevent dangerous criminals from threatening our communities.
“This is outrageous, and we must change the laws of New York State to have the necessary tools to prevent this from happening again. Only through good police work and our cooperation agreement with ICE will we be able to remove this habitual offender, this international criminal, from the streets of Nassau County, the region, the state and, hopefully, the country,” he stressed.
It should be noted that on November 18, the NCPD’s Fourth Squad reported the arrest of David Beckham Adam, a man from the New York borough of Queens, for grand theft that occurred on October 23, 2025, at 1:32 pm in Oceanside, Long Island.
According to detectives, an employee at Kravit Jewelry Store, located at 3151 Long Beach Road, was showing a man and a woman several bracelets that they were interested in. The woman indicated that they would return later to make a purchase and they both left the store. The employee later realized that one of the bracelets, valued at approximately $11,500, had been stolen.
After an exhaustive investigation, the suspect was identified as “David Beckham Adam”, a unique fact that draws attention because he initially has a name similar to the established former professional soccer player, star of Real Madrid and Manchester United, and current president of the MLS club Inter Miami.
For its part, the Nassau police reported in a statement that David Beckham Adam is 19 years old and a resident of 173rd Street, in the Jamaica neighborhood, Queens.
They report that on November 16, 2025, detectives observed David Beckham Adam driving a gray 2015 Dodge Chrysler and stopped him near the intersection of Rockaway Turnpike and Peninsula Boulevard in Lawrence. The subject presented a New York driver’s license, even though it had been issued after he entered the country illegally.
Then David Beckham Adam was arrested without incident. Subsequent investigations revealed that he is in the United States irregularly and is subject to deportation proceedings. Meanwhile, the investigation to locate his suspected accomplice continues.
David Beckham Adam faces a charge of grand larceny in 4th. degree and was arraigned on Nov. 18 in First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
