More delicious and authentic, “Dominican Restaurant 5” reopens its doors in Deer Park

In the midst of joy and the Caribbean flavor, the “Dominican Restaurant 5” restaurant reopens its doors. On July 25, a space was reopened that not only celebrates the rich gastronomic tradition of the Dominican Republic, but has also become a meeting place for the Latin community of Long Island.

The Great Re-Opening was organized by Priscilla Zárate who is president of the Hispanic Board of Suffolk County, Vanguard Leadership Consulting president, and president and founder of Education Impact Foundation, Inc.

“It is a pride for me to be representing the owners Gladys Caba Martinez and Geraldo Chavez, who have been a great strength in our community of Deer Park as Dominicans, as a woman of heritage Quisqueyana is also an honor to support them as president of the Hispanic Advisory Board, also as an entrepreneur an organization that sees what is diversity and educational inclusion.”

Zárate continued explaining the reason for his support for these owners. «To reopen this business was not easy. Since during the pandemic they had an unscrupulous Landlord (owner), the restaurant was put on the other side (in front of where they are now) … they wanted to get it out of there, they until they went through discrimination ».

“This is a business that has gone through many difficult things, during the pandemic they lost many of their workers and they themselves had to make the ATMs, the same ones that made the deliveries of the meals, those who cooked, to try to keep their business standing at that difficult time … and yet they persisted and today thank God they are here in their new restaurant and I feel very happy that it is in this community of Deer Park where much is needed.

Taste, courage and hope

The activity was conducive to the emotional words by the daughter of the owners. «I know how hard they have worked to get here, as immigrants came with a lot of courage, hope and a dream. Today is a powerful reflection of that dream, congratulations they deserve everything, ”said Lilly Aguilar.

The reopening of the “Dominican Restaurant 5” was attended by the Babylon Town Supervisor, Rich Schafer, who said he was happy to open more businesses in the area. He also made an appearance Anthony Martinez, attached Supervisor of the Babylon Town (Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor).
