Thousands of New Yorkers danced Sunday throughout the sixth avenue in the Annual Dominican National Parade.
Dozens of floats rumbled with Latin music on August 10, while Miles stirred Dominican flags to celebrate their culture and community from 36th Street and the sixth avenue to 55th Street. The roar of the crowd grew with each float and participant who marched, highlighting the theme of the parade: “Quisqueya & USA: United by culture and tradition”.
This year, the organizers chose the Major League Star, Nelson Cruz, as a great marshal, considered a person who represents all the contributions that the Dominicans contribute to the city of New York and their work with their non -profit organization, the BROOMSTICK23 Foundation, which seeks to improve health and education in the Dominican Republic.

Elected officials praised the Dominican community for their vast contributions to New York City and emphasized that they enrich the tissue of the large block.
Governor Kathy Hochul inaugurated the parade, announcing that advances with the $ 12 million for the Dominican Cultural Center in northern Manhattan continue.
«I am very proud to be here once again as its governor opening this parade; The 43rd celebration of everything that is magnificent and fun in the Dominican community, with more than one million people right here in New York City, ”said Hochul.
«Proud of being here with you today, but also with a firm message: here in New York we love our immigrant community, to the Dominican communities who came here to work and make our life more vibrant. They share their culture and food, and we reject efforts to get these working people from their homes and schools. We will remain in solidarity with them as we move forward to ensure that the people who comply with the law feel it and know that this is their home, ”added Hochul.
