May five in New York: Tequila, Tacos and Mariachis invade Stone Street in the Bajo Manhattan

For two days, the historic district of Bajo Manhattan becomes a Mexican corner full of mariachis, margaritas and tradition: all ready to celebrate with tequila, tacos and an environment impossible to ignore.

Spring in New York has its rituals, and on May 5 it is one of them, an infallible appointment to Stone Street, which this 2025 arrives more strongly than ever to turn the heart of the financial district into a party of Mexican flavor, music and culture.

The event, which will take place on Saturday, May 3 and Monday, May 5, from 12 noon to 10 at night, promises to be an explosion of colors, sounds and aromas in one of the most emblematic streets of Bajo Manhattan. And the best: entry is completely free.

During those two days, Stone Street’s cobbled street – located between Broad Street and Hanover Square – will be filled with Mariachis, DJs, street artists, taco stalls, street corn, frozen margaritas, Mexican beers and much more. All willing for local and tourists to get carried away by the spirit of May 5 as if they were in the heart of the Aztec country.

One of the main protagonists of the festival will be, as is tradition, Tequila Gran Centenario, the official tequila of the event. In their special tent located in the center of the action, attendees will be able to participate in the fun “Fast Gringo Test”, an experience that promises to teach to celebrate this party with respect and knowledge about Mexican culture – and also gives the possibility of winning unique awards such as a trip to Mexico, a free tequila year or exclusive tickets for a football match.

Of course, special drinks will not be missing: Great Centenary will be serving its exclusive cocktails Founded in 1857, this brand has managed to consolidate as the number one tequila of Mexico, with a tradition that is savored in each sip.

Although the epicenter of the party will be Stone Street, the celebration extends to the bars and restaurants of the area, all of them participants of the festival. There you can buy typical drinks and meals at affordable prices, with options for all tastes. In addition, some places will continue the party even beyond the official schedule, ensuring that the festive spirit does not go out when the sun falls.

What if it rains? No problem: the festival is celebrated with sun or rain, and the organization already plans tents and coverage so that nothing prevents enjoying the event. Even so, it is always advisable to carry an umbrella in case the crowd exceeds the covered areas.

The festival also thinks of families: children are welcome, especially during the first hours of the day. Although there is a strong presence of alcoholic beverages, between noon and the 3 pm the atmosphere is ideal for the little ones to enjoy music and street entertainment. Dogs are also allowed, as long as they are tied and under control.

Located just a few blocks from Wall Street, the historical district of Stone Street is a pedestrian and picturesque place that is already part of the list of unmissable city. His colonial atmosphere and his outdoor restaurants make him the perfect scenario for a party that, year after year, continues to grow in popularity.

So you know: Book May 3 and 5 on your calendar, gather your friends, look for your most colorful hat and get ready to celebrate May 5 as never before. Because in New York, when it comes to culture, diversity and good energy, Stone Street knows how to make it big. By: Nahuel Leto
