Teatro Círculo opens its season with ‘Peribáñez and the Comendador de Ocaña’

Teatro Círculo opens its 2026-2027 season with a new version of Peribáñez and the Comendador de Ocaña, by Lope de Vega, adapted by José Luis Alonso de Santos and directed by Daniel Alonso de Santos.
The play, which returns to New York after a successful tour of five cities in Spain, addresses desire, abuse of power, honor and revenge. The story begins when the powerful Commander of Ocaña becomes obsessed with Casilda, recently married to Peribáñez, triggering a series of events with devastating consequences.
Performances will be at Teatro Círculo, 64 East 4th Street, Manhattan, on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm

Pahua makes Flushing Town Hall dance

The Mexican singer, songwriter, percussionist, DJ and producer Pahua arrives at Flushing Town Hall with a proposal that mixes cumbia, afrobeat, folktronica and electronic rhythms in a night to dance.
The artist, originally from Mexico City and recognized for her international presentations, will also offer a talk and question session at 6:30 pm about traditional Mexican music and instruments, her creative process and her influences.

Flatbush Frolic celebrates more than 50 years with free festival in Brooklyn
Sunday September 27, 2026 | 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Traditional Flatbush Frolic returns to Cortelyou Road to celebrate more than five decades of bringing the Brooklyn community together. The free festival will feature food, crafts, games, family-friendly attractions and live music.
Programming will include performances by Alegba and Friends, Unison Steel, Cynthia King Dance Studio, Alden Moves and magician Amazing Ken, plus salsa throughout the day. This year the Hoop Bus is also added, with open basketball from 12 to 6 p.m.
