Islip students shine in shots competition in basketball

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs of the Islip Town recently celebrated its annual basketball event (“Sharpshoter Basketball Competition”), a tradition that brings together children students of the 4th and 5th degrees for a friendly sports competition and to promote awareness of drugs and alcohol.

Students and families gathered at the East Islip High School for this tournament and competed to see who would turn on more baskets after listening to the history of the contest and the words of encouragement of the municipal supervisor of Islip, Angie Carpenter.

“Events like this are very important, since less and less young people come out and remain active,” said Carpenter. “Offering children a way of having fun and participating in their community is precisely what we are looking for in Islip Town,” he added.

They also attended the lathe of the primary schools «Sharpshoter Basketball Competition» Wahlberg.
