The Círculo de la Hispanidad organizes the walk on the Boardwalk in Long Beach, NY, to end domestic violence. This event takes place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, starting at 9:30 am, on Broadway at the corner of Laurelton Boulevard, where participants will begin their journey to continue walking on the Boardwalk in front of the beach.
The entire community of Long Island and New York is invited to participate in this day called “Peace Starts with Me” whose mission is to raise awareness to end domestic violence that affects thousands of families and provide information to break the silence around this problem.
The activity takes place every fall and begins with a program that includes various speaker interventions, followed by a walk along the boardwalk.
This walk is organized by El Programa Salva de Violencia Domestica del Círculo de la Hispanidad, a community organization based at 26 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY 11561, and which serves by offering services to those in need also through its Emergency Line (516) 889-2849, available all the time (24/7).
The Circle’s “Salva Domestic Violence Program” places educational signs along the boardwalk, in both English and Spanish, offering facts, statistics, and information on resources related to domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence in our society. These educational posters also include artwork made by children participating in the Círculo de la Hispanidad youth programs.
The Salva Domestic Violence Program has been in operation since 1984. Gil Bernardino, founder and executive director of Círculo de la Hispanidad, created the program to address the needs of the Spanish-speaking community in Nassau County, Long Island, who were experiencing victimization.
