Freeport public schools inaugurate with joy the 2025-2026 school year

Freeport’s public schools officially opened their doors to start the 2025-2026 school year. Smiling faces and the energy of a new beginning filled the halls on Tuesday, September 2 while the students settled in their classrooms, and were received by teachers and friendly staff.

“We are very happy to welcome our Kindergarten students to the district,” said School Director Columbus Avenue, Johanna Bowers. “His first day is the beginning of an exciting trajectory and we are eager to see how they grow this year.”

The Freeport School District has chosen the theme “Each student, every day: releasing their potential and inspiring their growth” to guide their work during the year. The topic emphasizes the mission of the district to provide significant opportunities and support to all students.

“Our theme reflects Freeport’s commitment to student performance,” said the Interim School Superintendent, Dr. Alice Kane.

«By welcoming students when they return to the school year, we focus on ensuring that their potential is recognized and developed daily. We are dedicated to freeing that potential creating environments where students feel supported, motivated and inspired to grow, ”he said.

They are growing academically and socially, and discovering what they are passionate about. We are here to encourage and support them in every step of the road, ”he said.

From the Kindergarten students who start school for the first time to the students of the last year of high school at the Freeport High School, the district is looking forward to supporting the students and wishes them a year of successful and rewarding learning.
