Fennessy Family Emergency Department inaugurate at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital

A multitude of community leaders, elected officials and Mount Sinai Health System staff and Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital met to celebrate the inauguration of the new Phennessy Family Emergency Department, infrastructure that had a budget of 50 million dollars. This event was held on May 1 at the Mount Sinai South Nassau Oceanside Campus.

The renewed emergency department is named after Joseph Fennessy, benefactor of the hospital for many years and president of the Board of Directors of the Hospital when the renewal was authorized. Mr. Fennessy was accompanied by members of his family to celebrate this special occasion.

It should be noted that the modern and expanded “Fennessy Family Emergency Department” doubles its previous size, reaching that of an American football field.

The new emergency department is the cornerstone of the new Pavilion of Family Family, four -story and 9300 square meters, which will include 9 new operating rooms and 40 new intensive care rooms, whose inauguration is scheduled for the end of this spring.

«Fennessy Family Emergency Department» will be able to serve approximately 80,000 patients a year. It has centralized nursing stations for direct supervision of patient rooms, bedroom triage and a avant -garde traumatology unit with a contiguous radiology room.

The new entry and triage area of the Emergency Department of the Fennessy family is the culmination of a five -year renewal and $ 50 million. More than $ 10 million of the cost of renewal were financed with community donations during a five -year capital fundraising campaign.

The Feil Family pavilion was partly financed with FEMA funds after Hurricane Sandy and is designed to improve medical care on the southern coast. It is part of an effort to strengthen the resilience of the hospital campus in Oceanside in case of an event similar to Sandy.
