Camila and Daniela: Resilience and talent at the Garden of Dreams Talent Show

Among the more than 150 talented young people who will participate in the Garden of Dreams Talent Show on Tuesday, April 8 at 7 pm et in the iconic City Music Hall, Camila Izaguirre and Daniela de la Cruz are two bright examples of the incredible resilience against adversity. Camila, who has fought against cancer and faced a mandibular reconstruction surgery, and Daniela, who exceeded the loss of her father and exclusion, represents the strength and hope that the stage will illuminate that night.

Despite the unimaginable challenges they have faced, both have found in music a way to heal, express themselves and share their passion with the world. “The annual talent show is a unique opportunity for these extraordinary young people, who face unimaginable obstacles, share their talents with the world,” said Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC. “Work as hard as they do and present themselves in the great stage of Radio City Music Hall is a tremendous feat, and I am very proud to be part of this annual event.”

This free event and open to the public not only celebrates talent, but also the courage and determination of these children, who, with the support of mentors, celebrities and athletes, fight to make their dreams come true. Each of them has a history of overcoming, and together they will remind us that no matter how great the difficulties are, there is always room for hope, music and the realization of dreams.

Camila: one million dreams and an infinite strength

The story of Camila Izaguirre, 12, is a testimony of courage. Diagnosed with brain cancer in 2014, Camila has faced unimaginable obstacles, including jaw reconstruction surgery in February 2024 after being diagnosed with a carcinoma. Despite physical and emotional difficulties, Camila continues to fight with an impressive strength.

This April 8, Camila will perform at the Garden of Dreams Talent Show with a song that has a very special meaning: “A Million Dreams” of the movie The Greatest Showman. “This opportunity means a lot to me because it is a dream to sing in the Radio City Music Hall,” said Camila, who dedicates her interpretation to all the people who have supported her during her treatment. In addition to singing, Camila enjoys dance and play with her brother, activities that fill her with happiness.

His message for other children who face health problems is clear: “You never give up and never lose hope.”

Daniela: The voice that was born from the heart

Daniela de la Cruz, 11, has lived a life full of challenges. Since he lost his father at the age of two, Daniela has faced many difficult moments, including feelings of exclusion at school. However, music became its refuge and source of strength. “It was my biggest discovery to realize that I could sing,” said Daniela, who began singing with her mother when listening to music in Spanish.

For the Garden of Dreams Talent Show, Daniela will choose to interpret “Love in the Dark” by Adele, a special song for her, since she is one of those who sings frequently with her mother. Although the emotion makes her feel nervous, Daniela is determined to do his best on stage: “It is a great opportunity for me, so I want to give everything I have,” he said.
His message for other children who face similar challenges is simple but powerful: “Follow in their dreams.”
