Bilmed in Peru 2025: Peruvian cinema prepares to shine in its third edition

Filmed in Peru, the most anticipated cinema event returns with a selection of films, short films and the presence of prominent filmmakers and actors. Discover what awaits us in this celebration of Peruvian culture and creativity.

Peruvian cinema is about to live one of its most exciting moments of the year: the third edition of «Filmed in Peru 2025«, an event that brings together the best of national audiovisual production and that this time promises to exceed all expectations. With a poster full of premieres, special projections and the participation of directors and recognized actors, the festival is consolidated as an essential space for lovers of seventh art.

The countdown already began and in less than 10 days, the cinema and cultural spaces will be filled with stories that reflect the diversity and wealth of Peru. From April 14 to 18, lovers of the seventh art can enjoy free projections, meetings with directors and a unique cultural experience in the iconic King Juan Carlos Center from the University of New York and from April 16 to 18 at the Village East Cinema.

From family dramas to shocking documentaries, programming includes titles such as: «Family album» (directed by Joel Calero), a psychological thriller that explores the darkest secrets of a family marked by the internal armed conflict. “Queens”starring Gonzalo Molina, a moving story about the reunion of two sisters with his father in the midst of imminent migration. “Mistura”by Ricardo de Montreuil, a gastronomic and emotional trip in the 1965 Lima. “Tattoos in memory”adaptation of the novel by Lurgio Gavilán, with a script by Mario Vargas Llosa and the direction of Luis Llosa.

In addition, the Festival will include a selection of Peruvian short films and in indigenous languages, reinforcing its commitment to the inclusion and visibility of original cultures.

One of the biggest attractions of “filmed in Peru” is the opportunity to meet talents behind the movies. This year, personalities such as: Joel Calero (family album director), who explores traumas inherited from political violence. Gonzalo Molina, Queens actor, which takes the viewer to a roller coaster of family emotions. Ricardo de Montreuilwho with Mistura pays tribute to Peruvian cuisine as an identity vehicle. Stephanie Boyddirector of the documentary Karuara, people of the river, a legal and spiritual struggle for the rights of the Amazon.

Peruvian cinema has demonstrated, edition after edition, that he is not afraid to address complex issues. In “The inheritance of Flora”, Augusto Tamayo tells the life of Flora Tristán, a pioneer of feminism in the nineteenth century. On the other hand, “Kipi Mission”, by Sonaly Tuesta, shows how innovation and education come together in pandemic times.

In the documentary field, “Karuara” raises an urgent reflection on the defense of the environment, while*”Prodiga daughter” **, by Mabel Valdiviezo, is a personal trip about the reunion and reconciliation.

The festival will not only celebrate cinema, but also Peruvian gastronomic wealth, recognized worldwide.
