Amityville Holds Homecoming Parade and High School Football Game

Members of the community proudly marched to Amityville Memorial High School during the annual “Homecoming Parade,” a traditional event held on Saturday, October 18, concluding with a lively high school football game.

The Homecoming Celebration event began at the Long Island Railroad Station (LIRR) in Amityville and participants paraded through the local streets along Sterling Place, Broadway, Avon Place, and E. Lake to the school field.

Along the way, enthusiastic spectators, including supportive parents and members of the public, lined Broadway in the heart of Amityville, cheering on the parade participants.

The caravan included the school’s marching band, cheerleaders, school administrators, board members, teachers, PTA groups and students from various educational centers in the Amityville area, located in Suffolk County.

Dressed in festive attire, students accompanied elaborately decorated floats that reflected this year’s theme: fairs and carnivals.

And this school’s Cheerleading Team put on a spectacular performance during halftime of the varsity football game: the Amityville Memorial High School Warriors against the Eastport-South Manor Sharks.

The marching band then put on an incredible show with a medley of “Apache” by The Sugarhill Gang, “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe, and “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars.

And the halftime celebrations concluded with the coronation of Homecoming King, Eghosa Ojo, and Queen, Sage Stephens.

It should be noted that the school football game was played on the field, the Amityville “Warriors” fought until the end but the victory belonged to the visiting “Sharks” with a score of 45-0.
