2026 World Cup: They reduce the fare (round trip) to $20 to travel by bus from NY to MetLife Stadium

Good news! New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the NYNJ 2026 FIFA World Cup Host Committee announced significant improvements to the official shuttle bus service to NYNJ Stadium (MetLife Stadium) for fans traveling to matches at the upcoming World Cup.

Thanks to the support of New York State and sponsors, the cost of round-trip bus tickets to the games will be reduced from the initial price of $80 to $20.

To ensure New Yorkers have priority access to this enhanced bus service, 20% of bus tickets for each game will reportedly be reserved exclusively for local residents. The remaining tickets will be available to all fans attending the eight World Cup matches at the New Jersey stadium.

“Hosting the World Cup is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for New Yorkers, and we are making this world-class event as affordable and accessible as possible,” said Governor Hochul.

“A cheaper bus transportation service is an obvious decision: it saves money for fans and makes it easier to get to the games, especially for New Yorkers who have access to exclusive tickets at this new lower price. This is their World Cup and, from Buffalo to Brooklyn, New Yorkers should be able to enjoy every moment of it,” he stressed.

Tickets are now on sale for fans who have tickets to the World Cup matches, and can be purchased at the web link https://fevo.com/official-nynj-stadium-shuttles.

Bus departure locations

To ensure maximum connectivity to public transportation services throughout the New York City region, buses will depart from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, 625 8th Ave, New York, NY 10018 and from 2 additional pickup points: Midtown East (east of Grand Central Terminal) and Midtown North (west of Central Park). Exact locations will be communicated to ticket holders in the near future. weeks.

In anticipation of the increase in demand for tickets due to this more affordable price, and in order to encourage the use of public transport to get to and from the matches, the capacity of the buses has been expanded: from the initial 10,000 seats it has been increased to 18,000 seats for five matches and 12,000 for another three matches.

To make this enhanced service possible, additional school buses have been obtained through Highland Electric Fleets, with support from New York City School Bus Umbrella Services, Inc. (NYCSBUS).

Please note that fans who have previously purchased Official NYNJ Stadium Shuttle tickets for the corresponding games will automatically receive a $60 refund.

“Creating a World Cup experience that is accessible to both fans visiting our region and people who call New York and New Jersey home is a top priority for us,” said Alex Lasry, CEO of the NYNJ Host Committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“We are incredibly grateful to Governor Hochul for helping us expand shuttle capacity and reduce round-trip fares from $80 to $20. These improvements will provide an affordable and convenient transportation option, while furthering our mission of delivering a once-in-a-lifetime event for residents and visitors alike.”

This affordable and improved bus transportation service adds to Governor Kathy Hochul’s efforts to ensure that all New Yorkers can enjoy this historic “2026 World Cup.”

The governor announced Monday that free tickets are now available for the first of two “Flagship World Cup Viewing Experiences” hosted by New York State, which will take place at Stony Brook University on Long Island.

In April, Governor Hochul, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the NYNJ Host Committee announced free fan events in all 5 boroughs of NYC.
