Esteman and Daniela Spalla’s Amorío Tour did not reach New York, but their music continues to shine

Despite the great expectation that had been generated with the arrival in New York of Esteman and Daniela Spalla’s Amorío Tour, scheduled for last May and which had to be canceled due to visa problems, the musical proposal that both artists have built fully justifies the wait and confirms the value of this collaboration.

Their collaborative album Amorío (2025) has been received with great enthusiasm by the public and critics, highlighting the single “Amantes”, which reached #1 on the radio in Mexico, reinforcing the project’s impact on the music scene. Likewise, their first collaboration, “Te alejas más de mí” (2020), continues to be a global phenomenon with 4× Platinum certification and more than 200 million views, consolidating itself as one of the biggest hits in the careers of both artists.

Esteman and Daniela Spalla reach this stage after establishing themselves as two of the most influential voices in contemporary Latin pop. Both have built solid careers as soloists, with multiple sold outs at venues such as the National Auditorium and the Teatro Metropólitan, as well as participation in large format festivals such as Vive Latino, Tecate Pa’l Norte and Festival Hera.

Their artistic chemistry, evident from their first collaboration, evolved naturally until becoming a joint project that today takes shape in Amorío. A collaboration that confirms their impact on current Latin music. Read the full interview to find out all the details of this new stage.

How did the idea of turning your musical chemistry into a complete project like Amorío come about?

I believe it was born from a creative restlessness. We were used to doing everything individually, as soloists, and it was very intriguing for us to create something together: a complete album and experience the whole process of doing it as a team. From composing all the songs to choosing the producers, defining the release dates, making creative decisions and building the visual and aesthetic universe of the project. That challenge attracted us a lot. Therefore, this collaboration that began with a song like Te alejas más de mí evolved into something much bigger.

I think it is an album very inspired by the classic songs of the 70s. As we have commented several times with Daniela, when people listen to it, they are immediately transported to that time and think of artists like Juan Gabriel, among other references. It was an album that was born from collaboration and the search for a shared identity. It is an album that could not have existed separately; It is not an album that I would have made alone nor that Daniela would have made alone. It has the DNA of both of us deeply impregnated.

What have you discovered about each other by working so closely together at this stage?

He brings a very intuitive look at music and enormous attention to sonic detail. It has also shown me how those details end up influencing the overall vision of a work. That is one of the most valuable lessons I take away from this creative process.

Esteman, what do you think Daniela contributes to your artistic growth?

Esteman: There is something about Daniela that has marked me a lot and that continues to resonate with me now that we are both working again on our solo projects. It’s the attention you put into the writing of a song and the way you tell a story. I think there was a very valuable complement there and, in the end, one ends up absorbing part of those qualities.

Which Amorío song do you feel best represents this stage of your lives?

For me it would be Crying in the Abyss. It is a song that remained like a little hidden gem within the album. We don’t play it as much at concerts, but for both of us it’s one of our favorites. It talks about migration and how we both left our home countries to pursue a dream in music. It also speaks of the pain that this farewell implies, even if one faces it with the conviction of taking the right path.

Fancy.

Daniela Spalla: Melodrama. And the third would be unique, because it really is something unrepeatable. We are reaching the end of our collaborative stage, since this is not a new permanent band.
