Mixed Doubles Redesign

Earlier this year, the USTA announced the renewal of the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship with the goal of raising awareness of this historic competition, offering fans, both in attendance and around the world, the opportunity to watch tennis’ biggest stars, both men and women, compete side by side for a US Open Grand Slam title.

This year’s event was moved from the third week of the tournament, its traditional place on the calendar, to the first week (US Open Amateur Week) for the top singles stars to compete together and for this Grand Slam to be the center of attention, with coverage from ESPN and international broadcast rights holders

Other improvements to the 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles Tournament, presented by Vital Proteins, include:

– A player bracket of 16 teams: 8 teams with direct access according to their combined individual classification and 8 with wild cards.

– $1 million in prize money for the US Open Mixed Doubles champions (team).

– Best-of-3-set matches with 4-game short sets, no advantage, tied 4-way tiebreakers, and a 10-point tiebreaker instead of a third set.

– The final will be the best of three sets to 6 games, without advantage, with ties at 6 and a 10-point tiebreaker instead of a third set.

– All games will be played at Arthur Ashe Stadium or Louis Armstrong Stadium.

– The event will be broadcast on all ESPN properties:

Tuesday, August 19: 11:00 – 13:00 ET on ESPN2; 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPNews
Wednesday, August 20: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2
