Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis proudly welcomed the Rockville Center Lady Cyclones women’s volleyball team to the Peter J. Schmitt Memorial House to celebrate their Class A New York State Championship.
Highlights of their 17-1 season included a 3-0 win over Plainedge to repeat as Nassau County Class A champions; a 3-2 win over Half Hollow Hills West to capture the Long Island title; a 3-1 win over Rye to win the Regional Championship, and a decisive victory in a five-set match over Williamsville South to secure the state title.
During his visit on February 9, Legislator Davis presented the team with a Nassau County Legislature Citation and individual plaques to each volleyball player in recognition of the program’s second state title, the first in 32 years.
“These exceptional athletes worked incredibly hard and went above and beyond to succeed,” said Legislator Davis.
“Their courage and determination, and the tools the girls applied, will serve them well long after their years as state champions at South Side High School. Although we were delayed by the first big snowstorm of 2026, it was a true privilege to welcome the Lady Cyclones to the Legislature and highlight their remarkable victory,” remarked the Democratic elected official from Rockville Centre.
