Thirty years after your debut, when you look at your entire career, what excites you more: what you achieved or the fact that you knew how to reinvent yourself without losing your essence?

«That’s what all human beings do, right? At different stages we need to stop being who we were, ‘change our skin’, as my song says. As an artist the same thing happens: you are changing yourself and also what you express. I like to transform. Being free and allowing myself to always be free is what makes me most proud.”

What can people expect from “HITS TOUR – 30TH ANNIVERSARY”?

«There is a lot of nostalgia, because all those songs have accompanied you and me at some point in our lives. But it is not to suffer, it is to be happy! This show is a time to sing and dance together to songs that bring us beautiful memories: when we were a certain age, when we fell in love, when we met someone special…”

«Thirty years with my audience can be said easily, but it is a long time and many shared stories. You will see the classic eras and also the new moments that I have experienced as a person and artist. My fans already know many recent songs, so they will be able to sing and dance to them with me. »

After celebrating 30 years, do you feel that this tour closes a cycle or opens a new one?

«It opens a new one, but it also means applauding yourself, enjoying and thanking life for everything that has happened in these 30 years. “It is a time to look back, value what we have experienced and give all the energy to what is coming in this new stage.”

Your fans have grown up with you. What does it mean to meet them again live?

«It is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to me. I love networking, but there is nothing like being live: dancing, singing and feeling together. The show becomes a party of all our stages. It is a two-hour ‘massage’: relaxation, inspiration and energy in a very beautiful environment.»

What makes your songs connect with new generations that didn’t grow up with you?

«It’s magical. What I sing and how I have fun on stage is for all ages and families. My songs are ageless: anyone can feel joy, inspiration and the will to live. That’s why they connect with everyone.”

Was there any song that, when reinterpreted for this tour, made you rediscover yourself as an artist?

«Yes, every time I do something new I surprise myself. But the most beautiful thing is when I connect with the public and they feel the same. Songs like ‘Azúcar Amargo’ or songs by Mecano continue to be favorites and it is always incredible to perform them.»

You’ve been through fads and industry changes. What was the most difficult thing to sustain in these 30 years?

«It has been a constant balance, like juggling: balancing my personal life, creativity, professional commitments and, for those of us who are mothers, also our family responsibilities. It is a juggling act that all human beings do.

What artistic dreams do you still have pending?

«New ideas, fusions, duets, concerts always arise. Creativity is infinite and there is never enough life for everything I want to do. “I still have many things to experience and share with my fans.”

Any message for your New York audience:

«On March 5 we will start the US tour in New York and I am very excited to finally be here. We have prepared new costumes and production; Even though it is the same tour, it feels totally renewed. “You have to come see it, because that’s where the celebration begins.”
