The NFL (National Football League) and Procter & Gamble join forces once again to celebrate the next generation of young Latino student-athletes who make a difference, both on and off the field of play.
The NFL announced the nominees for the fourth annual “NFL Latino Youth Honors,” a recognition of high school seniors who not only excel in football and academics, but also make significant contributions to Latino culture and the community.
This initiative was launched to recognize outstanding high school athletes—both men and women—who play tackle football and flag football. Earlier this year, all 32 NFL teams were invited to nominate exemplary student-athletes for consideration in this year’s program.
This process resulted in the nomination of 61 outstanding student-athletes. From this talent pool, a panel will select 8 finalists, each representing one of the NFL’s eight divisions.
It should be noted that each of the finalists will receive a scholarship for university studies, including $25,000 scholarships for the national winners (male and female) and $5,000 scholarships for each of the other six finalists.
They will also have access to exclusive mentoring opportunities during the week of Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles. On that occasion the national winners will be announced and the 8 finalists will attend the big NFL football game.
“The NFL Latino Youth Honors celebrate the extraordinary impact of young leaders who use the leadership lessons learned through American football to inspire and support others, creating a lasting impact in their schools, neighborhoods and communities,” said Marissa Solis, senior vice president of Global Brand and Consumer Marketing for the NFL.
“Together with Procter & Gamble, we are proud to recognize these young agents of change, whose passion, perseverance and pride in their culture are helping to build a better future for the Latino community and for our sport,” he emphasized.
