Students at Northeast Elementary School, located in Amityville, celebrated “Hispanic Heritage Night” in style, an emotional event where school staff and families gathered in the school gym to enjoy delicious food and good music that highlight the Latino culture.
In this activity, held on October 16, the parents of the students donated traditional dishes from their countries of origin for everyone to enjoy.
In addition, Panamanian author Iritzel Mero read an excerpt from her children’s book “La Pollera de Finita.”
As for the musical presentations, the invited artists dressed in festive outfits and the Guatemalan folk singer Chevito, accompanied by his guitar, delighted the audience by singing some of his songs.
In this way, the elementary school’s Hispanic Heritage Night shined as a night of collaboration celebrating our fascinating culture on Long Island.
