NATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE NAHP 2024: Celebrates the excellence and progress of the Hispanic media

The 2024 National Convention of the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP), held at the Loyola University of Chicago, was one of the most shocking meetings of the year for Hispanic printed and digital media professionals.

Gathering industry leaders, government officials and key actors, the Convention served as a center for the progress of Hispanic media, offering an unparalleled opportunity for professional growth, innovation and a reinforced representation of Hispanic voices nationwide.

Located in the iconic Gold Coast neighborhood in Chicago, in the Magnificent Mile area, this central place promoted network work, learning and celebration of achievements in Hispanic publications.

The National Association of Hispanic Publications – NAHP Convention stood out as a unique platform for Hispanic media professionals to connect, collaborate and maintain at the forefront of industry’s trends.

During the three -day event, immersive workshops, conferences and opportunities for networking were offered. From discussions about digital transformation and editorial best practices to sessions on monetization strategies and marketing ideas, the Convention attended both experienced editors and new participants, providing relevant and timely resources to raise the Hispanic audience in the United States.

The generous support of sponsors such as T-Mobile, Wells Fargo, Google News Initiative, Goya, Verizon and Pop Mount highlighted the importance of the convention. Its associations allowed NAHP to offer a high quality program while the essential role of Hispanic publications in the representation and empowerment of their communities is underlined.

The Convention began with a welcome reception in the renowned London House Rootop, which offered panoramic views of the Chicago downtown.

Editors, sponsors, government officials and business representatives met for the opening ceremony, marking the beginning of a series of enriching experiences.

The governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, gave a powerful opening speech, praising Hispanic publications for their valuable contributions to the State and the country. His message highlighted the importance of Hispanic media to promote cultural understanding and amplify Hispanic voices in the United States.

A prominent point of the Convention was the election of new members of the Board, including regional and alternate directors, who will lead NAHP initiatives throughout the country.

Among the new chosen leaders are Ellie Burgueño, Editor and Publisher of Beyond Borders Gazettewho will serve as regional director for region 6, representing California. The choice of Burgueño placed it in a strategic role to advance Nahp’s mission in one of the most diverse states in the country, ensuring that Hispanic stories and issues receive the visibility they deserve.

During the Convention, the new members of the Board of Directors of NAHP paid oath, committing to promote Hispanic media in their respective regions.

The other distinguished leaders committed to supporting Hispanic publications in their areas include Silvana Diaz (*Long Island news*), Erick Oribio (*Latin Opinion*) and Ana Bringas (*Diario Las Americas*) for Region 1; Yuri Cunza (*The news nashville*) and tar macias (*hello Iowa*) for region 2; Robert Dewaelsche (*El Central*) and Jose Luis B Garza (*The newspaper uses*) for region 3; Christy Martinez (*Latino Lubbock*) and Jesus Sanchez (*Colorado Commerce*) for Region 4; Marco Porras (*Second hand*) and Hector Felix (*The Informator of the Valley*) for substitute for region 6 in California.

This new Board has the task of promoting the growth, commitment and representation of Hispanic communities nationwide, reflecting the continuous commitment of NAHP to raise Hispanic voices.

Throughout the Convention, the participants exchanged ideas, established new connections and celebrated the notable achievements in the Hispanic publications. From interactive workshops and high profile networking events to key discussions with government leaders and businessmen.
