Nassau County opens 3 temporal heating centers to protect from extreme cold

With the fall in temperatures and the extremely cold climate that is felt in our Long Island region, the Nassau County government is here to help keep its residents safe and warm.

For this reason, they have activated “temporary warming centers” (also called “Warming Centers”) which are open in the following locations:

– Cantiague Park administrative office:

480 W John Street, Hicksville
Hours: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Note: Those who remain after 4:00 pm will be transported to Mitchel Field by the Nassau County Police (NCPD).

– Mitchel Field administrative building:

1 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Unionz
Hours: open 24 hours
Note: Call 9-1-1 if you need transport to this location.

– Wantagh administrative building:

1 King Road, Wantagh
Hours: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Note: Those who remain after 4:00 pm will be transported to Mitchel Field by the NCPD.

It should be noted that if you or someone you know needs refuge during the night, call the homeless people in winter of Nassau County, to:
1-866-WARM-BED (1-866-927-6233).

The authorities of the Nassau County Hispanic Affairs Office urges the community to keep it safe, share this information with its neighbors and take precautions to protect themselves during this hard winter season with freezing temperatures and that has also left us with snow accumulations (more than 3 inches) and rain of water-unierse dangerous for drivers and pedestrians.
