Mount Sinai South Nassau honors its nurses during “National Nursing Week”

Mount Sinai South Nassau administrators and staff packed the hospital’s Conference Center for its annual National Nurses Week kickoff breakfast to recognize, honor and thank nursing staff members for their tradition of excellence in providing compassionate, gold-standard patient care.

The annual breakfast of this hospital located in Oceanside, NY, culminated in the presentation of the following awards:

– Daisy Award for Professional Career 2026:

Susan Ludwikowski, MSN, RN, NE-BC
Jacquelyn Rosen, MSN, RN, PMHCNS-BC, NC-BC

– Daisy Leader Award 2026:

Stacy Chojnacki, BSN, RN-BC

– Mount Sinai South Nassau Award for Transformational Nursing Excellence:

Ivan Taglorin, R.N.

– Mount Sinai South Nassau Nursing Leadership Award:

Emily Leboff, RN, Senior Nursing Manager

– Mount Sinai South Nassau Nominee for the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council Nursing Excellence Award:

Erica Valenski, MSN, RN, AGPCNP-BC, GERO-BC, WCC

Other highlights included presenting the 2025 Team Daisy Award to the hospital’s Behavioral Health Team, in recognition of their individual and team work in providing extraordinary care to patients.

Also the presentation of awards to members of the nursing staff for their clinical excellence, service and quality; and special recognition to nurses with 20, 25 or more years of service.

Each year, “National Nurses Day”—also known as “National Registered Nurse (RN) Recognition Day”—is celebrated on May 6 and kicks off “National Nurses Week” that concludes on May 12, the date of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

Mount Sinai South Nassau nurses are recognized for their dedication and commitment to the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered health care, whenever and wherever it is needed.
