More than 400 students from Glen Cove received backpacks with school supplies

Just in time for the season of return to classes more than 400 students from Glen Cove, in Long Island, they received backpacks with school supplies during an event «Back-To-School Backpack Giveaway» held on August 19 at The Landing School, community activity organized by the leader of the minority of the Legislature of County of Nassau, Delia Deriggi-Whitton, and Nassau County Police Association (ABP).

It should be noted that the ABP union donated backpacks and school supplies for attendees, which helps prepare students for success in the 2025-26 school year.

The logistics support of the event was provided by the ABP of Glen Cove (Nassau County Police Benevolent Association), the Glen Cove Auxiliary Police Department and the Department of Public Works of the city of Glen Cove.

“This is my favorite day of the year. The emotion of the children is noticeable when receiving a new backpack, and this has a great impact on Glen Cove,” said legislator Deriggi-Whitton (Democrat for Glen Cove).

“I greatly thank the president of the Nassau PBA, Tommy Shevlin, and his entire team for his generosity; to the Superintendent of the School District of the city of Glen Cove, Alexa Doeschner, for receiving us in The Landing School; and the ABP of Glen Cove, the Auxiliary Police of Glen Cove and the staff of the Department of Public Works for all its effort to develop without the event. We wish all students a happy, prosperous and successful 2024-25 school year! ”
