Lin-Manuel Miranda tells new baseball campaign with the stars Acuña, Lindor and Tatis

The Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the following phase of its advertising campaign for the Latin public “baseball is something else”, with three new ads that celebrate the inheritance and trajectories of some of the most electrifying Latin stars of the game: the Venezuelan Ronald Acuña Jr. de los Bravos de Atlanta, the Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets and the Dominican Tatis Jr. of San Diego’s parents.

Transmitted in the United States and countries in Latin America, these ads have the narration of the artist of Puerto Rican origin Lin-Manuel Miranda, winner of the Pulitzer, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award, and who weaves powerful stories of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, celebrating the music, culture and legends of baseball that connect these nations with the game.

In addition, MLB will launch in September a specific announcement for Mexico that pays tribute to the legendary launcher of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Fernando Valenzuela, for his pioneering role in opening the way for players born in that country.

Fans can see these new ads in Mlb.com/el-beisbol-es-otra-cosa and on the social networks of MLB.

The stories are developed within a gallery space with a cozy and modern design, set with detailed miniatures created by Puerto Rican artist Danny Cortés.

Each model captures the essence of the beginnings of a player, turning everyday moments into powerful and enduring symbols.

With the vibrant participation of the Dominican influencer Jess Judith, the unmistakable voice of the Puerto Rican salsa icon Gilberto Santa Rosa and the art of the Venezuelan musician Beto Montenegro, the ads combine rhythm, inheritance and passion to pay tribute to the players and communities whose dedication to baseball does not know borders, including the following stories:

– Ronald Acuña Jr.:

From La Sabana, Venezuela, the “land of players”, to become one of the most exciting baseball superstars, the route of Acuña is a testimony of its talent, determination and unique style.

The campaign portrays its beginnings by developing its competitive spirit with its younger brother, Luisángel Acuña (Mets in New York), playing video games at home and his ascent until he became a JMV caliber player.

The history of Acuña embodies the pride and passion of Venezuelan baseball, inspiring fans in their native country and worldwide with each swing, run and smile.

– Francisco Lindor:

Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Lindor’s love for the game began in the sunny fields of the island, where he spent hours perfecting his talent.

The campaign celebrates its taína heritage and the vibrant rhythms of rumba that resonate in the stands of the Puerto Rican stages, sounds that feed their passion from childhood.

Its history reflects resilience, optimism and deep cultural roots that continue to mark the path of “Mr. Smile” inside and outside the field.

– Fernando Tatis Jr.

He grew up in San Pedro de Macorís, the Dominican Republic, a city that has produced more than 90 major league players. Tatis Jr. was surrounded by baseball since childhood, inspired by the 11 -seasons career in his father’s majors, Fernando Tatis.

As a child, he accompanied him to the stadiums and learned from other professionals in the dressing rooms. His path was forged by legacy and ambition. Affectionately known as the child, Tatis provides intrepid energy and an inspiring talent to the game, a style that he cultivated since his days in the diamond of the neighborhood until he became one of the most dynamic stars of MLB.

Baseball is something else

MLB presented “baseball is something else” in 2024 to show how many aspects of Latin culture manifest themselves daily in baseball, highlighting the unique style that each culture contributes to the game.

According to Luker Fan Research’s annual survey, 62% of Hispanics 12 years and older in the United States are identified as MLB fans. MLB collaborated with the Multicultural creative agency Remezcla to develop and produce the “baseball campaign is something else”.

The ads starring Acuña, Lindor and Tatis will be disseminated through the MLB Media channels, including MLB Network, MLB.com, MLBESPAspañol and MLB.TV; In allied media such as Fox, FS1, ESPN, TBS, ESPN Deportes, Fox Deportes, Univision and Apple TV+; and on other digital platforms paid. The social series will live in the social media channels of MLB and in the influencers accounts.

In Mexico, MLB puts in the foreground the legendary figure of Fernando Valenzuela, pride of Etchohuaquila, Sonora, whose career from a land field in a small town to the bright lights of Major League Baseball changed forever the sport.

The announcement that honors the late idol of the Dodgers celebrates his remarkable story, since he launched with a glove borrowed to becoming an international sensation when the “Fernandomania” united fans through the borders.

Together with the history of El Toro, the campaign stands out to the current MLB players born in Mexico: Alejandro Kirk, Andrés Muñoz, Isaac Paredes and Luis Urías.

Narrated by Mexican singer Melissa Robles, the announcement highlights talent, resilience and cultural pride that continue to inspire new generations of players and fans in Mexico and beyond that. This announcement will be transmitted in ESPN Mexico and Image, on the social networks of MLB Mexico, in the Cinemex complexes already through Amazon Prime Ads.
