Suffolk County Legislator, Rebecca Sanin, delivered a special proclamation to the Varsity Lighting Team of the Elwood – John H. Glenn High School high school, in recognition of his historic victory in the state championship of Duels in New York.
The team, led by coaches TJ Brocking, Ryan Patrovich and Devin Carter, took the title of Division II after a series of impressive victories, culminating with their triumph over Plainedge with a 38-29 score.
“Perseverance, teamwork and the dedication of these young athletes have led their community to the highest level of state competition,” said Legislator Sanin. “This championship is not only an incredible achievement for the team, but also a testimony of the commitment of its coaches, families and the entire Elwood community with sports excellence,” he said.
The team was held with a special assembly at school on February 6, where the state championship flag in the John Glenn High School gym. Legislator Rebecca Sanin joined the community to commemorate this historical achievement and express their pride for these exceptional athletes.
