The Los Angeles Lakers overwhelmed coach Jordi Fernández’s Brooklyn Nets thanks to Luka Doncic’s 24 points and LeBron James’ 25 points and exhibition of dunks and alley-oops, who enjoyed a feast of popularity on his last visit to New York of the regular season.
The Lakers’ victory was led by their two great stars. LeBron James contributed 25 points (highest scorer of the night), 3 rebounds and 7 assists, while Luka Doncic contributed 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Slovenian was chosen this Tuesday as the best player of the month for January in the Western Conference. Doncic, who celebrated his first anniversary as a Lakers player this week, averaged 34 points, 7.2 rebounds and 9.1 assists in the first month of 2026.

The Los Angeles team left the game on track after the first quarter, in which they already crushed the Nets with a 23-45 score. The Lakers had a very precise start to the game, hitting 15 of their 18 field goals (83%), including 4 of 6 on three-pointers.
The Catalan coach Jordi Fernández, before finishing the first twelve minutes of play, walked around the technical area looking from one side to the other without finding solutions to turn the game around.
The stands of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn were full of gold and purple dots shown by the thousands of fans wearing the jersey of LeBron James, a living legend of basketball and sports.

The Nets (13-36), who on the last day already suffered a heavy 130-77 defeat at the home of the Pistons, outstanding leaders of the East, increase their bad streak in 2026, in which they have added 16 defeats for only 3 victories. Fernández’s team remains second to last in the East, increasingly further away from the postseason positions.
