In the month of mental health, Maga Córdova sings to vulnerability with courage with his new theme: “It is good to be wrong”

From Guayaquil, the Ecuadorian singer -songwriter Maga Córdova invites us to embrace our deepest emotions with her new single

After an artistic pause marked by the pandemic and a deep personal transformation, Maga returns more clearly than ever about the power of music as a connection and healing tool. “This song is like a key that opens this new artistic stage,” he tells us the voice of those who have learned to inhabit their emotions without fear.

Known for successes such as “A thousand thank you (Karma)” and “Rain (Like You)” – environment radial successes in his country -, Maga has managed to position himself as one of the most promising emerging artists in Ecuador, and is currently nominated for the Disco Red 2025 awards and the Rem/Sayce 2025 awards in categories as the best pop dance song, a favorite artist and female artist.

In a world where we are often expected to say “I’m fine” even if we are not, Maga dares to break emotional silence and remind us that there is nothing wrong with feeling bad.

Maga combines pop with electronic sounds, and uses his voice not only to sing, but also to open urgent conversations about mental health, maternity, and the right of women to pursue their dreams without guilt. His message: normalize sadness and stop fleeing to pain is also a form of self -esteem.

In the interview, we talked to her about mental health, female empowerment, the way back to the stage and her dreams of international expansion.

How was the theme “It is good to be wrong” and what was the healer of the creative process?

There came a time in my life in which I was clear that I should not continue in a relationship, however, there it continued. I questioned me a lot, but I realized that it was part of my personal learning process and that I had to stop punishing me so much; It is good to be wrong. I think I wanted to get that toxic positivism a little, that “don’t cry” or “how are you?” With an automatic “good”, when you are not always well.

I am very aware that mental health is the most important thing about all, it is the engine of life. This song is like a key that opens this new artistic stage after I retired in 2020 through the pandemic, which affected me a lot. I feel that I grew up in those years of pause. When having the opportunity to return to music, I felt that I also became a kind of communicator, which entails a great responsibility. I knew that my message had to be another. Today I want to connect and make people feel alone in this process of living.

Your new single “It is good to be wrong” comes just in the month of mental health. How important is it for you to make this theme visible through your music?

It is completely important, and that is why I am doing all this. I feel that it is necessary to normalize it because it is something that all people live. We all go through this and, at the same time, we try to flee from it. Whether with the party, with sexuality in the songs or simply passing the time … but it is necessary to face this part as well. It is part of life.

“It is good to be wrong” has electronic and pop elements. Would you like to experiment with other genres in the future?

I have always been a fan of electronics, but as Ecuadorian, that niche is very difficult. I think that the dare to break with that fear has opened different doors to me, and I am very grateful for what this genre has allowed me to do. I am always looking for constant mergers, without limits. Although, at this time, I don’t see myself regional … but you never know what it will be like in a few years.

Your music has been a female empowerment channel from the beginning. What message do you expect other women to listen to your songs?

I am always trying to highlight that we must not stop being protagonists of our lives. I, for being a mother in a society as conservative and small as Ecuador is, caused some noise by continuing to travel and focusing on my career. But why do we have to stop being protagonists of our lives?

Our children are the main characters, but that does not mean that I have to be a secondary character. I think that is something that inspired women: not to leave their dreams, not to stop feeling sexy, beautiful and sensual. The world does not end, although in a macho system we have wanted to instill otherwise.

Your followers are also growing out of Ecuador. How are you working to connect with the Latin public in other countries, such as the US or Mexico?

With promotions in social networks and media promotion.

Which artist (Latin or international) would be a dream to collaborate with him or her?

I love the entire music scene of women in Argentina. I am fascinated how they support them and how they function as a community. I would like Ecuador at some point to be the same.

What follows for Maga Córdova? Can we expect an album, collaborations or an international tour soon?

Launch an EP and, with that EP, start the tours and live shows, which is why an artist works so much: to be able to sing to his audience. It fascinates me and excites me a lot. We are working in the show format … it would be wonderful!
